The Homestead|Live gracefully contrasts upbeat folk rhythms, infectious hooks, and positive lyrics with gripping melodic backdrops, captivating harmonies, and evocative choruses, producing a dynamic worship experience representing the entire emotional spectrum. Psalm 103 (Oh My Soul) is the band’s first single, a lively declaration praising God for His unending goodness and love. A catchy melody whistled over a driving Haitian beat that the band was taught on a mission trip to Port-au-Prince sets the tone for the album. Just As I Am is a powerful reminder of God’s love in our present state. A hauntingly beautiful piano and vocal intro gradually opens into a luscious chorus symbolic of the swelling warmth of God’s compassion. The album closes with an original arrangement of I’ll Fly Away that displays the full array of the band’s creativity. Banjo and a single vocal line give way to all six band members harmonizing over a percussive spoons rhythm for a rousing completion to The Homestead’s initial project.
